CORE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
The primary focus of the Canada Summer Jobs: Fit Kids Summer Outreach Coordinator is to work in an inter-professional team that provides children with opportunities and environments that stimulate the importance of proper nutrition and exercise. The Fit Kids Summer Outreach Coordinator will:

• Coordinate, develop, plan, implement and evaluate an annual summer outreach event about the importance of proper nutrition and exercise
• Active outreach in the community to deliver support and education to children’s camps about nutrition and exercise
• Responsible for traveling to day camps or local celebrations and facilitating a 1 to 2 hour presentation including interactive physical activities
• Develop and implement appropriate strategies in proper nutrition and physical activities by consulting the Program Coordinator and inter-professional team
• Assist in the development of community partnerships in local children’s camps or events within the community
• Demonstrate a commitment to a safe environment for staff, clients and families by working in compliance with the WECHC related policies, health and safety regulations and completing mandated training as required
• Participate in program and service delivery, networks and partnerships with agencies and community groups
• Required to work days, evenings and some weekends as needed to support programs and services  

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• One to three years of relevant experience working with children and summer camps
• Experience in a community health setting or combination of community health, and/or public health settings
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment is required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, combined with good analytical, problem solving, organizational and administrative skills
• Experience in child development, program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation is required
• Proficiency in the use of computers, Microsoft Office and various software applications
• Bilingual (English/French) language skills are an asset 
• Clean driver’s abstract and a current and valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License with reliable transportation to support travel throughout Windsor-Essex County.


EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS
• Must be a post-secondary student enrolled or returning to a post-secondary institution in September 2017
• Must be completing an undergraduate degree or diploma from a recognized institution; students enrolled in Human Kinetics, Food and Nutrition or Education programs are an asset
• Current Basic Rescuer (C) certificate recognized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario is required
• Completion of a Police Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to commencing employment.
