About Us

Windsor Essex Community Health Centre, Street Health Site provides primary care and supportive services to individuals in our community who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Our clients are often:

  • living on the streets
  • living in temporary shelters, motels, or rooming houses
  • living temporarily with friends or family
  • at risk of becoming homeless and/or coming from a treatment centre or corrections with no permanent housing.

We provide:

  • Primary Care, (M,T,W,F 7:30 am –4:30 pm, Thurs 7:30am-6:30pm) accessible by appointment (walk-in appointments available to Street Health Primary Care clients only)
  • Blood Draw Services (Street Health Primary Care clients only)
  • Foot Nurse Services; accessible by appointment
  • Injection Clinic, (M-F 8:00am-2:00pm) Street Health primary care clients have access to long acting injectable medication to aide in mental health
  • Smoking Cessation Program, (Wednesdays 8:00am-2:00pm)
  • Social Worker on site available by appointment (M, T, W, F 8:00am-4:30pm, Th 7:30a-6:30p)
  • System Navigation & Advocacy, (M,T,W, F 7:30am-4:30pm Th 7:30am-6:30pm) staff are available to help clients find resources in Windsor-Essex, set up services within WECHC or using community partner services, advocating on behalf of clients when needed
  • Dental Assessments and Cleaning; available by appointment for ODSP recipients at Street Health location
  • Uninsured & Ontario Works recipients are seen Sept - April by ST Clair College students at Street Health location
  • Health Card and Birth Certificate Replacement, (M-F 9:00 am—3:00 pm)
  • OW recipients & clients that are homeless living at a shelter in Windsor-Essex
  • With the exception of Alberta, Quebec, New Foundland
  • Laundry Facilities, (M,T,W,F 8:00 am—2:00 pm, Th 8:00am-4:00pm) Washers, dryers, detergent and laundry sheets are offered at no cost to the client, accessible by appointment
  • Showers, (M,T,W,F 7:30 am—3:30 pm, Thurs 7:30am-5:00pm) showers are fully accessible. Towels and soap are provided to the client at no cost
  • Hygiene and Seasonal Item Distribution (Shampoo, dental hygiene, hats & gloves, socks, sun screen, etc.)
  • Harm Reduction Program- needle exchange, safe injection kits, safe inhalation kits, abscess care kits
