Windsor Essex Community Health Centre (weCHC) is a non-profit, community-governed health centre that provides high-quality primary care alongside mental health services, health promotion programs, illness prevention programs, and community development initiatives.
As part of this integrated, comprehensive approach to primary health care, weCHC supports individuals, families, and communities in achieving better health by addressing the social determinants of health. These include income, access to shelter and housing, education, language and geographical barriers, and other factors known to directly affect health outcomes.
We partner with local agencies and community organizations across many sectors to address the bigger picture of health. We are also committed to continually improving the care we provide. Our quality initiatives include client satisfaction surveys, participation in the accreditation process, and support for the Health Quality Ontario Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
weCHC is a non-profit community health centre primarily funded by Ontario Health. Community donations also make a big difference in the care we provide. Many of the everyday barriers our clients face, such as affording nutritious food, getting to a medical appointment, or staying warm through a Windsor-Essex winter, fall outside what provincial funding can cover. Donations from our community helps our team address these needs and ensure clients can stay connected to the care they need.
In short, provincial funding helps us deliver care, and the generosity from our community helps make sure every client can actually reach it.
